The city of Naples, in southern Italy, rises in the heart of the homonymous bay next to Vesuvius, the volcano still active and known for having destroyed the ancient Roman city of Pompeii.n departure for the Naples and Pompeii tour crossing the Autostrada del Sole towards the south, we can admire the green countryside and the Castelli Romani. Halfway through, we will see the Abbey of Montecassino, famous for the great battle of World War II. We go down towards the port of Mergellina and walk along the seafront to reach the neighborhood of Santa Lucia, an ancient fishing village, where the ancient Castel Dell'Ovo stands out. We leave the city along the fertile valley of Vesuvius that borders the towns that connect Naples and Pompeii : Herculaneum, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata. Once in Pompeii, lunch will be served. In the afternoon, always accompanied by our guide, we begin the archaeological walk in the ancient city (about 2 hours). Buried by a blanket of ash and lapilli for a sudden eruption of Vesuvius. Pompeii came back to light after almost 1700 years and as if by magic the everyday life of an ordinary day in the first imperial age remained crystallized in its gestures, in its secrets , in the panic of the last moments.
